Maryland STEM Festival 2019: Things to do in Maryland with kids - Robotics after-school - coding


Hi everyone,

How is everything out there?

Already. Time is going so fast and you are looking for things to do with your kids in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Maryland STEM Festival - STEM for all in Maryland

Since it's october, at the same period every year, a big STEM event comes in the State of Maryland to educate, teach, show and entertain kids and adults living in Maryland, Washington DC and Nothern Virginia of course. If you haven't guessed, I'm talking about the Maryland STEM Festival.

Maryland STEM Festival October and November 2019

For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a celebration of Science, Techonology, Engineering and Mathematics that last one month this year. It starts on October 11th to finish on November 10th 2019. This will be a month full with STEM for your children for all of you living in Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia and even Pennsylvania for some of you.

Activities available for the Maryland STEM Festival

Activities are hosted all across Maryland by small groups, companies, individuals, non-profit, makers and schools. Thematics that you can find may vary from: learn how to use a 3D printer, Learn how to code, electronics, hands-on activities for younger kids, learn how to make a robot and more

Kids in STEM in Maryland

Makersgeneration will also be part of the STEM festival with diverse after-schools every week during all that period.

Your children are 7 years old and higher and have already used a computer before, we invite you and your children to come meet us. The main topic will be robotics and how to code a robot. They don't need to have previous experience with coding.

It will be at the Silver Spring Library in Maryland at the following adress

  • Silver Spring Library, room 3-1, 3rd floor, 900 Wayne Ave, 20910 Silver Spring

Program for the STEM after-school with the students- learn how to code

It will be on Wednesday October 23rd 2019 from 7 to 8 pm. The program will be the following

  • intro to robotics

  • Intro to the robot used

  • An intro to coding

  • An intro to the software used

  • Code the robot with different scenarios

  • And more
